Vine & Fig Stands with Black Lives Matter

The Vine & Fig Team |

Vine & Fig states unequivocally that Black Lives Matter, and we whole-heartedly support the protestors who are doing God’s work in streets.

We demand justice for George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and all our black siblings who have been killed by the hands of police and racism. And to reform the systems in place which police minority communities with violence. As Catholics, we know that humanity is One and violence against any of us is violence against all of us.

Our black siblings have been systematically targeted by hatred, violence, and injustice. It is our duty - especially those of us who are not black - to stand up with and for black folks, to work for justice, equality, and peace.

Because it is not enough merely to talk about injustice, Vine & Fig will match donations up to $250 to the organizations below.

We encourage all non-black folks to make a donation if you can, to demand accountability from your elected officials for the violence being done against black and brown communities, and to educate yourself on what is happening and why.

Suggested organizations to donate to (email [email protected] with a screenshot of your donation):

  • The Bail Project, a nonprofit that aims to mitigate incarceration rates through bail reform.
  • Black Visions Collective, a black, trans, and queer-led social justice organization and legal fund based in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
  • The National Bail Fund Network has a directory of community bail funds to which you can donate, along with a COVID-19 rapid response fund. Another list of funds is available here.
  • Atlanta Solidarity Fund, a fund to support arrestees showing that nobody in their movement will be left behind.
  • The NAACP Legal Defense Fund, which supports racial justice through advocacy, litigation, and education.
