We are proud to introduce our newest team member and intern for the Spring semester, Ceara Hunsaker.
Remember back a couple years ago when Vine and Fig was just a baby organization announcing itself to the world on Christmas Eve? We were just three cis gay guys trying to create some space in the Church for the queer community. And while we are still an all-volunteer team, we’ve grown a lot since then!
And we are proud to introduce our newest team member and intern for the Spring semester, Ceara Hunsaker! We are beyond thrilled to be welcoming her to the team and especially as she will be helping us share YOUR stories on the Vine and Fig blog!
Ever since our founding days we had the goal of sharing queer narratives. Nothing is so powerful as hearing another person’s life story, told honestly and unsuppressed. But we know that sometimes it’s not the easiest thing in the world to write about yourself - so Ceara will working with community members and folks outside the community on narrative pieces that really show what life at the intersection of queer and Catholic looks like!
Ceara Hunsaker is a student at Loyola University Chicago, studying Multimedia Journalism. She spends a lot of time trying to figure out what it means to be queer and Catholic, and to share those experiences with others through her work, both in journalism and creative fiction. When not writing, she can be found trying to figure out how to get her sourdough starter to work.
SO, if you are interested in talking with Ceara about sharing some of your story, hit up [email protected] and everyone look for her stories to be posted here on the website soon!
